The Seventh Asia-Pacific Conference on Wind Engineering (APCWE-VII) held at the Grand Hotel in Taipei, Taiwan, November 8-12, 2009 addressed various topics of wind engineering. The participants for the conference came from 19 countries and were about two hundred and twenty, including scholars, engineers and students. The printed conference proceedings contain 183 4-page extended abstracts and 8 keynote/invited papers. The 8-page full papers were collected in a CD-Rom disk and distributed at the conference.

The organizer of the conference, Chinese Taiwan Association for Wind Engineering and Wind Engineering Research Center of Tamkang University, would like to thank all the speakers and participants for making the event a success.

The 5th Workshop on Regional Harmonization of Wind Loading and Wind Environmental Specifications in Asia-Pacific Economies (APEC-WW 2009) was opened right after the conference at Grand Hotel and moved to the Lanyang campus of Tamkang University in I-lan County for two more days. The missions of APEC-WW are to harmonize wind loading standards/codes and to harmonize bylaws/specifications on wind environmental problems in the APEC areas. This year’s workshop successfully provided a stimulating and constructive forum for 31 researchers and engineers from 17 countries.
